Scene 1:
Kiley and her mom, Allison, Carolyn, and their friends from outside school were lined up in a corridor at the church, making merry chatter. It must have been about Halloween time since they all wore flower costumes. Rose and Julia stuck out like sore thumbs, for neither of them had donned on flower attire. Rose did however sport a fashionable vest over her shirt, but Julia for reasons unknown thought the clothing odd.
Julia and Rose disengaged from the group, detouring down an unlit hallway. Julia turned away for a moment, then Rose had vanished when she turn back again. It was as if she evaporated into thin air!
"Maybe she's just playing with me." Julia searched for Rose, but to no avail.
She returned to the corridor where the group continued their party. To Julia's dismay, Rose was not there either. She isolated herself with feelings of puzzlement, sadness, loneliness, and anger.
